X-Country / Snowshoe

While we do not (yet) groom trails for skiing or snowshoeing in the winter, nearly any preserve great for hiking will be great for snow sports!
Additional spots for backcountry /off-trail exploration:

Bois LeDuc PreserveKirk-9009

Explore the mesic hardwoods and their majesty in winter. Snow here is often deep and great for a backcountry snowshoe adventure.

Frog Hollow Preserve

When the wetlands have frozen, wet meadows and cedar swamps are sometimes excellent places to feel like you have gone back in time. Use caution as wetlands close to streams and moving water often are not as frozen as higher ground.

Ellis Woods Preserve

The hardwood forest and glacially sculpted hills here make for a great day-trip on back country snow shoes or skis.
