A Lasting Legacy for Walloon Lake
By: Jon Breithaupt
Executive Director
For generations, the waters, forests, and shorelines of the Walloon Lake watershed have shaped the character of this place we all care so deeply about. From quiet coves and wooded hillsides to the clear waters that define this remarkable lake, these landscapes are more than scenery, they are part of our shared story.
At the Walloon Lake Association and Conservancy (WLAC), our mission has always centered on permanence: protecting the land and water that sustain this unique watershed, not just for today, but for generations to come.
One of the most meaningful ways supporters help ensure that future is by making a lasting commitment through planned giving.
The WLAC Legacy Society
We invite you to consider joining the WLAC Legacy Society, a special group of individuals who have chosen to include WLAC in their estate plans. These thoughtful commitments reflect a shared belief that the protection of Walloon Lake should endure far beyond our own lifetimes.
Legacy gifts can take many forms, including:
- A bequest in your will or trust
- Retirement account beneficiary designations
- Life insurance policies
- Gifts of real estate
- Other planned giving arrangements
Each gift, regardless of size, plays a vital role in securing the long-term future of the watershed we all cherish.
The Impact of a Legacy Gift
A planned gift to WLAC is more than a financial contribution, it is a promise to the future. These gifts help ensure:
- The continued protection of water quality
- The preservation of important lands and shorelines as opportunities arise
- The long-term stewardship of conserved properties
In short, your legacy helps safeguard the natural character of Walloon Lake for your family, your community, and generations you may never meet, but who will benefit from your foresight.
A Special Opportunity to Lead
To help launch the Legacy Society, twelve past Presidents of WLAC have come together in a remarkable show of leadership. They have collectively committed to contribute to WLAC’s endowment fund in honor of the first 24 individuals or families who join the Legacy Society.
This matching initiative is a meaningful way to recognize and celebrate those who take this important step.
